Hi, I'm Sam Finzi.

Growing up with a veterinarian dad, I have always had a deep appreciation for animals. We had rescue dogs in our home and, from a young age, I learned how to take care of our furry friends.

Each dog is unique  and I know how important it is to take the time to understand their temperaments. With every new client, I spend a considerable amount of time getting to know your pets and I wait for as long as it takes to earn their trust. You can be sure that I will take care of your dog the same way that I look out for my own

I specialize in dogs who demonstrate behavioral issues such as anxiety, fear biting, and aggression.  I lovingly refer to them as my "misfits and troubled souls."

As a dog walker, I am insured and bonded so that you can be sure that I take my responsibilities seriously.

TESTIMONIALS

King Spanky (Austin)

"Sam is the best dog caregiver ever—compassionate, caring, and responsible.

A little background: We adopted our English Bulldog when he was 3. He is very anxious around new people and came to us with a variety of health problems (cherry eye, Lymes disease, etc.) and behavioral issues (anxiousness, aggression, etc.) He is the sweetest boy when he gets to know you, but finding (and keeping) a dog walker/caregiver has been particularly difficult because of these issues. We tried everything, but he would never let anyone come close to him when we weren’t home. That is, until we met Sam.

We were introduced to Sam through a trainer who said that she has a specialty in “dogs with big feelings”—in other words, our dog, haha. Honestly, we were at the point where we thought he would just not be able to have a walker and that we would have to come from work at lunch to walk him. That is, until we met Sam. She came over everyday for two weeks so he could get comfortable with her. She sat with him—at a distance, at first—and would talk to him and give him treats. As the days went on, he would get closer and becoming more trusting. She was—and is—patient and nurturing; she understands dogs and genuinely gets to know them and their personalities, quirks, etc.

Our dog now waits for Sam and looks at the door for her. He absolutely loves her and she loves him. She’ll bring him treats, check on him after vet visits, text to see how he’s doing, and much more—she goes above and beyond. She is truly the best and we are so lucky to have met her!"

Tahini (Allisson)

"Sam is one of the most reliable and trustworthy dog walkers in NYC. She genuinely cares about the animals she cares for and will check in, send updates and photos! Even if you have a last minute event/ trip etc that you need a walker/ sitter for, she will drop what she is doing and get there for your pet. She’s just the best!!!"

Georgie (Jessica)

"Sam is great, and my fur babies love her! She’s very understanding and will tailor your fur baby's walk/sitting as needed. For example, I was sick one day and still needed Sam to come walk my pup, I said hi to her, hopped back in bed and I still hear Sam talking a few minutes later. I go out to see what’s going on and there Sam is, sitting on the floor, my pup is giving her paw from her bed and my cat is on Sam’s lap. Turns out, my pup Georgie likes to hold a “meeting” most mornings because she doesn’t want to go out quite yet. So, Sam explained, “she tells me about her day, I tell her about my day, and I tell her that we need to get the cat a job!”

I thought it was so thoughtful and nice that she didn’t just walk in and force my dog to go out right away, but listened to what she wanted instead. Of course they also go for a wonderful walk soon after their meeting.

Sam is flexible and helpful when I’m in a pinch. She’s 100% an animal person and cares for your fur baby as if they're her own."

Pastrami

"Sam is the best! She's wonderful with our pup and so reliable and dependable. She's so knowledgeable about dogs and their needs and has even offered helpful vet advice for us. Can't recommend Sam enough, she's a life saver!"

Hamilton (Sam)

"My husband and I have had the pleasure of entrusting Sam with our goldendoodle Hamilton for the last 2 years, since he was just a puppy.

Sam has been an effective third parent to Hamilton. We've moved apartments and neighborhoods, and she has always been there for us, consistently providing exceptional care for Hamilton. Her dedication extends beyond daily walks, as she also handles pick-ups and drop-offs from different daycares, making our lives so much easier. We wholeheartedly trust Sam to access our apartment when we're not home, as she's proven herself to be responsible and respectful of our space. Sam's punctuality and reliability are truly impressive, but what sets her apart is her genuine love for Hamilton. She has become one of Hamilton's favorite humans.

I cannot emphasize enough how highly we recommend Sam to any dog owner in the area."

Mason

"Mason is a handful. He’s 80 pounds of pure muscle and ADHD so he PULLS on the leash when he gets distracted. He doesn’t always love other dogs and goes full Chewbacca on them. Needless to say I’m very cautious with him and I trust VERY few people to be able to handle him.

Sam is the only person besides me that I truly trust to walk mason. She’s tuned into everything he needs, keeps a keen eye on her surroundings and would never put mason in a place where things could go wrong. She doesn’t let him walk all over her and keeps him in line (which he needs.) She loves him almost as much as I do and you can tell. Mason is overwhelmed with excitement to see Sam and gets fussy when he doesn’t see her as much as he’d like. She treats mason like he’s her own dog. But let me tell you about Sam as a human- she’s kind, takes no shit, and if you call her she will be there. There’s been times when mason broke out in hives and she came to my apt to check on him and brought Benadryl because I was freaking out. To say that she’s “good people” is an understatement. You’d be lucky to have her look after your dog. And I’m so so grateful I found her."
